Non-Euclidean Graffiti

Now on sale!

This debut collection of poetry by John Mudd has been called “unique, surprising, sexy—and wickedly funny.” The author’s long-time interest in making electronic music infuses these poems, as does an existential stream of consciousness that is both sharply observant and somehow hopeful.

There’s this tall man coming down the aisle, I think he may be my designated driver. I’m going down to the big city to have cocktails, there’s a party where fellas drink martini sours, then wee on each other. If this tall man isn’t my ride we might have to move it to February.
(from “Chico Bike Tunnel”)

Glen was pretty graceful for a man in his 60’s
wearing thigh boots and corset.
In the low light of the hotel
he tried not to wake his lovers,
all lovely people were scattered around the room
as if arranged for some kind of movie set….
First, there was the matter of a lacy pair of black panties
that simply had to be located.
It’s not as though they were worth much,
but someone gave him those panties,
someone who really liked seeing him in them….
Glen scanned the room for movement
he felt the crevices for one particular soft satin shadow.
Anyone watching might think Glen the most glamorous,
the most bold cat burglar there ever was.
He was Silent,
his task mysterious.
He was like the letter D
in bundt cake.
(from “Totality Poem”)

There’s a video called “Manifest Your Gay Dream Life.”
No matter how many times I watch it,
I still have to get off the couch,
often putting on clothes
in order to get tacos.
My gay dream life seems far away.
(from “Pay Odie”)
